FUJAIRAH // Thousands of Khaleeji music fans gathered on Saturday night to witness Emirati singer and composer Fayez Al Saeed performing for the first time in the Northern Emirates at a concert at Fujairah City Centre shopping mall.

The singer dazzled the crowds with a one-hour performance, mixing modern music with Khaleeji rhythms.

“This is the first time I performed in the Northern Emirates and I’m so glad to meet my fans and be part of their Eid celebrations, I was born and raised in Khor Fakkan and it’s like performing to your own family,” said Mr Al Saeed.

“I was really surprised by the huge numbers of people that came all the way to celebrate Eid with me and I promise them that I will be back again and perform in the country’s next National Day.”

People came from all around the country to celebrate second day of Eid at the concert.

“It’s the best Eid ever, the concert was amazing, we danced and sang with our favourite singer Fayez, he really made our day with his beautiful voice and great melodies,” said Ahlam Al Mazroue, 27. “I like all his songs and especially ‘Selfie’ and I can’t wait to see him perform again.”

Khaled Al Ali came from Abu Dhabi with his friends to enjoy the music of their best singer: “Our friend told us about the concert so we decided to come and meet with our favourite singer,” said Mr Al Ali, 23. “We are so proud of him and his universal music and I will not leave until he sings my favourite song ‘Deg Hewa’.”

The concert was hosted by developer Majid Al Futtaim with the aim to raise awareness of its annual charity campaign, ‘Make a Difference’, which supports underprivileged families in the UAE.
