DUBAI // A male prostitute who slept with more than 300 men through posting adverts on social media will spend three years in jail under close supervision, a Dubai Criminal Court judge ruled on Sunday.

The 29-year-old Moroccan, who posted ads on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat along with pictures of naked people and cross-dressers, inviting customers to have paid sex with him, will also have to pay a fine of Dh250,000.

In January a police officer from the Electronic Crimes Department discovered the man’s posts after spotting a suspicious tweet.

“A 25-year-old Moroccan for massage, hair removal and home-cleaning services,” read the tweet, which was posted along with inappropriate pictures of women and men.

“There were more than 400 followers for the account, so I checked its owner,” the lieutenant said.

An undercover police officer posing as a customer contacted the defendant.

“They agreed to have sex for Dh1,200 and, when he arrived, we arrested him,” the lieutenant added.

The Moroccan confessed to having sex with men for money.

“He confessed he had been doing this for a while, with more than 300 customers, and charged each one between Dh1,000 and Dh1,500,” said the lieutenant.

The man admitted in court charges of prostitution, inciting sin and promoting nudity on social media.

He will be deported after serving his prison sentence.
