Investigations are under way into the cause of a fire that broke out in Sharjah Heritage Village on Saturday.

The fire started at around 7pm in one of the huts and quickly spread to neighbouring huts.

Firefighters managed to control the blaze, reaching the site in less than four minutes, according to Col Sami Al Naqbi, director-general of Sharjah Civil Defence.

They prevented the fire from spreading across the village which includes traditional markets, Col Al Naqbi said.

No casualties were reported and the site has since been handed over to police to investigate the cause.
