Allah has bestowed upon mankind countless blessings upon Muslims and, in return, they should fulfil their responsibilities towards Him, mosque-goers will hear on Friday.
The most prominent responsibility in Islam is towards God, the sermon will say. Human beings were created to honour Him.
A verse from the Quran reads: “and I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.”
Therefor, Muslims should observe obligatory acts of worship, offer plenty of Nawafil (optional) prayers and to always be good to others.
“The people who are most loved by Allah are those who are most beneficial to others,” Prophet Mohammed once said.
And when people help each other, Allah commands that Muslims do so with humbleness and forbids anyone from treating others with feelings of superiority.
“Allah has revealed to me that you (people) should be humble, so that no one boasts to the other, or transgresses another,” said Prophet Mohammed. This is because all humans are equal to one another, the sermon will say.
God put humans on earth to build civilisations and accomplish achievements while respectfully using its abundant resources.
People should also work hard to earn a good living and once their hard work is over, they should worship God, mosque-goers will be told.
God emphasised this in the Quran, saying “We have certainly created man into hardship.” (Al-Balad: 4)
Similarly, the Prophet called on Muslims to show persistence in work and be productive, saying "If the Final Hour comes while you have a palm-cutting in your hands and it is possible to plant it before the Hour comes, you should plant it."
On the Day of Judgment, each person will be held accountable before God for their work in this life. Allah says, “and [for] every person We have imposed his fate upon his neck, and We will produce for him on the Day of Resurrection a record which he will encounter spread open. [It will be said], 'Read your record. Sufficient is yourself against you this Day as accountant'.” (Al-Israa: 13-14).
People are therefor urged to seize the opportunity to make best use of their time by performing good acts towards others.
