ABU DHABI // The Health Authority Abu Dhabi has signed three hospital services agreements with hospitals in South Korea.

The deals with the Bobath Memorial Hospital, the Sun Medical Centre and the Seoul Wooridul Hospital aim to raise the quality of health care in Abu Dhabi through knowledge exchange, expertise and the improvement of medical personnel qualifications for both sides.

The signing yesterday at the International Patient Care Centre building in Abu Dhabi makes it 11 agreements signed between the health authority and South Korea since the two parties signed an agreement in March 2011.

In November 2011, the health authority also signed hospital service agreements with Samsung Seoul Hospital, Seoul National University Hospital, Seoul St Mary's Hospital and ASAN Medical Centre in South Korea.

The latest agreements were signed by Ali Alali, the director of the International Patient Care Centre building at the health authority, Seok Bum Ko, the director general of Bobath Memorial Hospital, Sun Seong Hoon, the chief executive officer of Sun Medical Centre, and Sang-Ho Lee, the chairman of Seoul Wooridul Hospital.

According to South Korea's ministry of health, the number of patients being admitted to hospitals from abroad has been rising. Middle East patients reached 1,821 in 2011, a 91 per cent increase from 949 patients in 2010.
