Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed friendship and co-operation between the two countries in a telephone conversation on Monday night.

The two sides reviewed bilateral relations and ways to further develop them in the interest of their countries, as well as means of promoting economic, investment and trade aspects between the UAE and Russia, state news agency Wam reported.

Sheikh Mohammed and Mr Putin also exchanged views on important issues of common concern in the region and internationally, including crises facing the Arab world.

They discussed efforts to solve and manage them, as well as mutual co-operation and co-ordination to fight terrorism, extremism and violence.

The two leaders highlighted the importance of joint co-operation to ensure security and stability in the Arabian Gulf and the Middle East region.
