Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, on Tuesday chaired the first meeting of a committee tasked with carrying out changes called for in an open letter by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

Sheikh Mansour and five other ministers met in Abu Dhabi to set out the goals to be achieved within the next 100 days, in line with the six points in the letter published on Twitter on August 31.

In the letter, Sheikh Mohammed called for improved public services and measures to bolster Emiratisation efforts and reinvigorate the real estate sector to boost the economy.

He also called for a clampdown on social media users who spoke on behalf of the UAE without authority and encouraged government officials to spend more time among the people – rather than in conferences.

The UAE Cabinet formed the committee on September 1 and Sheikh Mohammed named Sheikh Mansour as its leader, describing him as a "graduate of the school of [UAE Founding Father Sheikh] Zayed" and saying he had "boundless faith" in his abilities to carry out the changes needed.
