Yas Island is gearing up for summer with a series of sports events.

Rugby fans can watch the Lions tour matches this Saturday and July 6 at the Yas Viceroy hotel. The games will be shown on four screens, as the British and Irish Lions play Australia in the second and third Tests. Doors open at noon for a 2pm kick-off.

Rugby fans are also encouraged to take part in tournaments at Yas Links on game days, when there will be a shotgun start at 7.30am followed by lunch and a watching party at Hickorys.

To celebrate the Tour de France, the Yas Viceroy will take foodies and cycling fans on a "Tour of Italy" every Wednesday during July.

The gastronomic events will feature fare from different regions of the country each week.

Yas Marina Circuit's weekly "Train Yas" nights will be held every Tuesday from 6pm to 9pm. Runners, walkers and cyclists can use the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The circuit is open to ladies-only on Wednesdays from 6pm to 9pm, including a number of classes.

"Positioning Yas Island as an everyday destination has resulted in an increase of island-wide activities, which are aimed to cater to a greater variety of local target market segments," said Karim El Guanaini, vice president of Yas Island Destination Management.

As part of its "Heat Wave" offer, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is giving women a 40 per cent saving on tickets to the theme park.
