Gang arrested over car battery thefts in Dubai

Four men were arrested in connection with a series of thefts from vehicles parked in industrial areas

A criminal gang accused of stealing car batteries during a series of thefts in Dubai have been arrested by police.

The four Asian men targeted vehicles parked in the industrial areas of Jebel Ali and Al Qusais, Dubai Police said.

“We received four reports of stolen vehicles’ batteries,” said Brig Mohammed Al Muhairi, deputy director of criminal investigation at Dubai Police.

The suspects admitted to stealing the batteries before selling them to scrap shops.

As part of their efforts to combat car crime in the emirate, police have warned drivers not to fall foul of thieves by leaving their engines running while their vehicles are not attended.
