Eight Afghans arrested on heroin smuggling charges
DUBAI // Anti-narcotics police have arrested eight Afghans and charged them with possessing heroin. The arrests were carried out in a residential area after officers were tipped off that the Afghans were in possession of drugs, Dubai Police said yesterday. "The raiding team of the general directorate of anti-narcotics raided the place and found eight people," a police statement said.
"After frisking each one of them and the whole place, the police found 3.874kg of heroin hidden in a plastic box of Afghan sweets." Police said two men admitted bringing the drugs from Afghanistan through Dubai International Airport. Two of the men were charged with smuggling and possessing drugs. Four others were charged with possessing and taking drugs and two with possession. email@example.com
