Indian High School Group's three schools will close early, from Thursday, as a precautionary measure against coronavirus.

All other schools and universities across the country will close from Sunday, as per directives from the Ministry of Education.

The early closure will not get in the way of examinations, however.

Indian High Schools, which follow the Indian CBSE curriculum, will continue board exams as scheduled for pupils in grades 10 and 12, a school representative said.

Exams for all other grades have been cancelled at the schools, and no re-examinations will be conducted. Instead, pupils will be assessed on their academic performance through the year.

The school sent parents a message on Wednesday to notify them of the early closure.

"As a precautionary measure, IHS group of schools is closed from Thursday March 5. A detailed circular about exams will be mailed. Your well being is important."

A representative from the school said there had been no confirmed cases of coronavirus among the pupils.

"We have said what we know at the moment,” she said.
