DUBAI // Two men prostituted themselves by advertising their services on a social networking website, a court heard today.

AS, 22, and AH, 30, were approached by an undercover policeman who noticed their adverts on whoshere.com and they agreed to have sex with him at the Ramada hotel in return for Dh1,500, prosecutors told the Criminal Court.

Shortly after they arrived, police raided the hotel room and found the younger man naked and the older man topless.

"[The younger man] confessed to being in the room to have sex for money while [the older man] said that he came only to dance," testified a police major.

Prosecutors told the court both men had criminal records featuring prostitution charges dating back to 2007.

Both were charged with prostitution; AH was also charged with promoting sin by posting web pictures of himself cross-dressing.

The two men, who are both Emirati, failed to show up at the court to enter a plea and the case was adjourned to March 31.
