DUBAI // An unemployed man who threatened to stab a woman before running off with her sandwiches was today sentenced to six months in prison.
The Dubai Criminal Court also ordered the deportation of LH, a 28-year-old from Morocco, after the completion of his prison term.
The court heard that the woman, whose nationality and age were not mentioned, was waiting for the lift in her apartment building on November 29 when the man approached her and threatened her with a knife.
He told the woman to hand over her purse, which she did, and ran off. Prosecutors said the purse contained only two sandwiches and Dh200.
The man denied charges of theft when he appeared in court.
