DUBAI // A maid stole about Dh100,000 in several incidents from the family who employed her, a Dubai court heard today.
The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance charged a 28-year-old maid from Philippines, identified as MK, with stealing from her employer, SR, a 39-year-old Iranian manager and his wife.
The length of the period during which she worked for them was not disclosed.
"Me and my wife were missing money during her work with us, but we never pointed the finger at her as we had a good relationship with her. But on October 10 we decided to mark our money," SR told the prosecutors.
Two days later, Dh2,000 of RS' money went missing and Dh3,000 of his wife's disappeared, according to the public prosecution records.
The couple searched MK's purse and found the marked money. They then reported the theft to the police.
MK reportedly confessed that she had stolen about Dh100,000 in total from the family, according to the public prosecution records.
MK did not attend her first hearing today.
The case has been adjourned to December 18.
