DUBAI // Two men who broke into the house of a pilot and stole a golden mobile phone worth Dh25,000 and Dh70,000 worth of other valuables have been sentenced to a year in prison each.
In addition to the Vertu phone, HP, 26, and AM, 32, both from Rwanda, stole a diamond watch worth Dh40,000, after climbing the wall of the man's villa in Al Qusais and forcing open the back door.
The pilot was on holiday at the time of the break-in, which occurred during August 2011.
Police found the burglars' fingerprints around the pilot's house and recovered several stolen items from the apartment of the two men.
The Criminal Court found them guilty of armed robbery and ordered them to be deported after completing their jail terms.
