ABU DHABI // An estate agent rented out properties and pocketed the proceeds without telling her company, a court heard this week.

One customer paid SW, a Palestinian, Dh90,000 to rent a property and a further Dh5,000 as a damage deposit, but when a year later he approached the real estate company to renew his contract he was told he was not registered as a tenant.

When the company confronted the agent she wrote a cheque for the same amount as compensation, but it bounced.

She was not present at the Criminal Court hearing, and the case was adjourned.
