A worker in a children's clothes shop has been accused of sexually assaulting a boy, 8, in the changing rooms.
Dubai Criminal Court heard that the Indian child had been routinely visiting a mall in Al Muraqqabat on Saturdays to wait for his mother to finish her day shift at a pharmacy.
"I finish my private lessons and then go to the pharmacy to wait for about 30 minutes before my mother finishes work so we can go home together," said the boy.
He said he usually spends the time looking at nearby shop fronts and visiting a children's clothes shop, where the accused works.
On February 24 this year, the defendant approached the mother and asked if he could take pictures of her son wearing some of the shop's clothes to use in advertisements.
"My mother agreed and when I went with him to the shop, he stripped me naked and touched me," said the boy, who was scared to tell his mother.
A few days later, another shop worker saw the child with the defendant and approached the mother to tell her that she should not allow her son to be alone with the man because he has a bad reputation.
She spoke to her son, who told her what had been happening and the family called the police.
The defendant, 20, from Pakistan, denied a charge of sexual assault.

He awaits a verdict, due on August 9.
