Al Noor Hospital on Airport Road recently expanded its cardiology department to include a 24-hour Heart Attack Centre for emergency cardiac catheterisation.

Dr Kassem Alom, deputy chairman of Al Noor Hospitals Group, said: “A dedicated team of medical professionals that specialise in emergency cardiac catheterisation is now available round-the-clock ... to treat sudden heart attack cases using percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), which is recognised internationally as the gold standard of care for acute heart attacks.”

The expansion plans included the addition of eight beds to the department, bringing the total to 20. More beds opens up opportunities to perform additional cardiac catheterisations and open heart surgeries, Dr Alom said.
