Serena Williams remains on track to win her 24th major title and eighth at Wimbledon after she defeated Julia Goerges in the third round on Saturday of the women's singles.

The 37 year old proved too strong for Goerges, who she beaten at the semi-final stage 12 months ago, as he prevailed 6-3, 6-4 on Court One.

Williams, whose most recent Wimbledon title came in 2016, will next play Carla Suarez Navarro in the fourth round on Monday.
