Madison Keys extended her fine grand slam consistency by reaching the French Open quarter-finals on Monday with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Katerina Siniakova.
The American 14th seed reached the semi-finals last year at Roland Garros and can repeat the feat if she defeats Australia's Ashleigh Barty in the last-eight after the eighth seed survived a scare to beat Sofia Kenin 6-3, 3-6, 6-0.
Keys was expected to face a tough challenge from Siniakova after the Czech world No 42 eliminated top seed Naomi Osaka in the previous round.
However, the American's deep and powerful groundstrokes and dangerous serve proved too difficult to handle for Siniakova in a match that lasted one hour and 18 minutes.
"I was really happy to close it out as playing three sets in these heavy conditions does not sound like much fun," said 24-year-old Keys, who has made the second week in 13 of her past 17 grand slams.
"I love clay courts and Paris and I am happy to play another match."
Keys will be aiming for a better outcome than the last time she faced Barty when the Australian ran out a 6-4, 6-1 winner earlier this year in a Fed Cup tie. However, their only other meeting came in the first round of the 2017 French Open and it was Keys who emerged victorious 6-3, 6-2.
