Kimi Raikkonen believes it will be tough for Ferrari to retain third place in the Constructors' Championship following his fourth place finish at yesterday's Japanese Grand Prix. The Finn moved up from fifth on the grid to take five points, but he was outpaced comfortably by the McLaren-Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton, who finished in third spot. The result saw McLaren close the gap for third to only two points with races in Brazil and Abu Dhabi still to come, and with stand-in teammate Giancarlo Fisichella continuing to struggle as he finished only 12th, the Finn is not confident the Italian team can keep their position in the table.
"Today the car wasn't bad, but it was not quick enough to fight for the podium," said the Finn. "This fourth place is useful in terms of keeping the team in third place in the constructors' championship, but it will be hard to hang on to it over the final two races." Meanwhile, Felipe Massa has been allowed to test a 2007 Ferrari car as he continues his recuperation from the head injuries he suffered after being struck on the helmet by debris from another car in Hungary.
The Brazilian has already driven a kart and hopes to be able to race in the final race of the year in Abu Dhabi, if fit.
