DUBAI // It was a good day for the Skaik family at the UAE Nationals Par-3 League competition at Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club.

Mahmood Skaik had a gross 28 to win the Division B by one stroke from Khalil Kashwani, who finished runner-up on a countback.

Ahmed Al Budoor carded a two-under-par gross score of 25 to win the Division A title by a four shots from Obaid Khalid in the competition organised by the Emirates Golf Federation.

In all 32 players took part in the final tournament of the league, which was aimed at giving young Emiratis, who are relatively new to the game, a feel for competition.

Saeed Albudoor, the general manager of the Emirates Golf Federation, said: "Once again we had a good response to the event, thanks to the support from parents.

"The field comprised players from Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi which shows golf is gaining in popularity among young Emiratis from all over our the country.
