Saeed bin Suroor declared himself thrilled with Delegator's final piece of serious work before next week's Darley July Cup at Newmarket in England.
The 2009 Guineas runner-up made a winning seasonal return in the Duke Of York Stakes but was forced to miss the Golden Jubilee at Royal Ascot on account of unsuitably soft ground.
"He worked this morning over five furlongs at the Limekilns on the short gallop," bin Suroor, the Godolphin trainer, said yesterday. "Ted Durcan rode him and he worked really well. The horse is ready now to go to the July Cup.
"He missed Royal Ascot because the ground was too soft for him, so we are just hoping for good ground at Newmarket.
"It might not be the worst thing that he missed [Royal] Ascot because he has always run his best races when he has been fresh. Frankie [Dettori] will be on board."
In other news, Godolphin's unexposed runner Burj Nahar could have his next race at Glorious Goodwood. The four year old won his only start as a juvenile in impressive fashion but injury kept him off the track for nearly two years before he returned with a win at Newmarket last weekend. The Coutts Glorious Stakes on July 29 is a possible target for the son of Shamardal.
"He ran well, considering it was his first run for two years," bin Suroor said.
"The horse is in good form with himself - he's sound and healthy, which is the main thing. We'll keep all options open for him in the future. We've got no plans at the moment, but we'll be looking for a nice race for him.
"He was injured, which meant he couldn't race at three [years old], which was disappointing. We'll give him an entry in a Group 3 over a mile and a half at Goodwood, but we've got plenty of options for him."
Godolphin's Neebras, fourth in the St James's Palace Stakes, has been declared for the Prix Jean Prat at Chantilly on Sunday.
