DUBAI // A new station on Dubai Metro's red line will open next week.

Energy Station, in Zone 2 between Ibn Battuta Mall and Jebel Ali Industrial stations, will open on September 30.

Bus services will operate to and from the station to encourage the public to start using it.

The Roads and Transport Authority expects more than 2,500 more passengers a day and there will be changes to the Metro’s timetable to accommodate them.

Weekday peak hours on the red line will now start at 6.30am instead of 7am, and train frequency will be increased to one every six minutes on Saturdays in the peak morning and evening hours.

On Fridays, trains will arrive every six minutes between 5pm and 10pm.

On the green line, between the peak hours of 5.30pm and 7pm, trains will also arrive every six minutes.

“Acquiring additional income for the authority by renting retail stores, ATM locations and selling the rights to the station’s name will contribute to the improvement of services provided to customers,” said Mohammed Yousef Al Mudharreb of the authority.

More than 67 million passengers used the Metro in the past six months.
