Cinema Space hosts a screening of the 1965 David Lean classic Doctor Zhivago, starring Omar Sharif in the title role based on the Boris Pasternak novel of the same name. Sharif stars as a physician whose life is altered by the Russian Revolution and civil war. The film runs 200 minutes, including an intermission, and also stars Geraldine Chaplin, Julie Christie, Alec Guinness and Tom Courtenay.

Respiro (Grazia’s Island) film screening

Valeria Golino stars as Grazia, a carefree mother who becomes the focus of her neighbours’ gossip. Her free-spirited behaviour reflects the beauty of the seaside village where her fellow islanders work hard for a living. The film is in Italian with English subtitles.

Like Father, Like Son film screening

Cinema Space presents a screening of the 2013 Japanese film Like Father, Like Son, about Ryota and Midori, an affluent couple, who discover that their six-year-old son Keita isn’t their biological son, and had been switched in the hospital at birth. Ryota suffers through conflicting feelings of nature versus nurture in this film that won the Jury Prize at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. The film is in Japanese with English subtitles.

Abu Dhabi Dragon Boat Festival

Take part in this year’s Abu Dhabi Dragon Boat Festival. Teams of 20 paddlers are invited to participate in the annual tradition, which is one of the biggest dragon-boat festivals in the region and features cultural entertainment, music and fun activities for spectators and participants.
