Make plans to take part in Get Driver Fit 2016, seven weeks of free sporting and fitness sessions that include functional fitness, Zumba, yoga, beach bootcamp and more.

The event is part of Yasalam 2016, the city-wide motorsports festival in advance of the 2016 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, and is presented by Flash Entertainment and Daman ActiveLife.

Culminating in a four-day fitness challenge with prizes for the top male and female participants, GDF promotes an active and healthy lifestyle. To be eligible for this year’s prizes, participants must take part in the initial fitness assessment on October 2 and the final assessment at the end of the programme.

“Each year as Get Driver Fit evolves, Abu Dhabi continues to prove that it is up for a unique, positive and community-led challenge,” said John Lickrish, CEO of Flash Entertainment, organisers of Yasalam. “A key commitment for Yasalam is to engage with the entire community of Abu Dhabi as they take in the excitement of the race, and this year is no exception. With support from our key partner Daman, Get Driver Fit supports the government’s health and education agenda and involvement in mass participation and youth events to improve physical literacy.”

Muscle Beach and GDF Fitness Zone, popular features from last year’s GDF, will return to the Corniche during Yasalam Live, with an outdoor gym supervised by trainers, along with daily beach fitness workouts.

• October 2 to November 27, various locations around Abu Dhabi including Umm Al Emarat Park, Bodytree Studio, Yas Marina Circuit, Haddins Gym at Zayed Sports City and St Regis Saadiyat Beach, free to participate, www.facebook.com/GetDriverFit
