We knew it was on the way, but now we have a date - Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island will open its doors on November 11, 2018.

The 293-room beachfront property will have eight private-pool villas and 70 suites, along with three infinity pools, and an expansive luxury spa built around a Moroccan hammam.

In addition there will be eight dining outlets, including Tean, a Levantine-inspired eatery; Mare Mare an Italian restaurant; and a cafe called The Lounge.

The newest member of the Saadiyat Island beachfront community will be plastic bottle and plastic straw free, with general manager Linda Griffin noting that "the resort’s design was heavily influenced by the need to minimise impact to the island’s habitats".

Griffin says that in partnership with Trust Your Water guests will be provided with reusable plastic bottles they will be encouraged to refill at water stations. She's excited about how the property will be received by the people of Abu Dhabi and their visitors.

"This resort is a place like no other, located footsteps from one of the most beautiful protected beaches in the Arabian Gulf," she says.

"Every aspect of the resort’s design and intended guest experience has been influenced by the beauty of this location. Guests can embrace sunrise yoga, find a secluded spot to watch the sunset, or relax in one of three infinity swimming pools that merge into the sand dunes."

The opening of the Saadiyat Island property - a 10-minute drive from downtown Abu Dhabi and 20 minutes from the international airport - is expected follow that of the Jumeirah Group's Al Wathba Desert Resort, which is scheduled for a September opening.
