Yes, there were supercars driving through Dubai Mall this weekend

Don't worry, they weren't rogue vehicles: it was all part of a supercar club exhibition

A supercar is not a rare sight in the UAE, but to see one driving through the lower ground floor of Dubai Mall? Now that is a bit more unusual.

A video (that was posted but has since been taken down) by popular UAE account Supercarblondie showed an Aston Martin being driven through one of the largest malls in the world, and it has already been viewed over 345,000 times in just 12 hours.

It showed Alex Hirschi, a Dubai-based Australian car fan behind the account, getting into an Aston Martin, picking up some takeaways and then driving through the mall.

Also, it was good to see she put her seatbelt on before setting off (remember, buckling up became compulsory by law in the UAE last year).

WHY WERE THERE CARS IN THE MALL?

Hirschi was not the only one driving a million-dirham car through the mall this weekend. There were more than a dozen luxury motors in Dubai Mall on Saturday due to an event held by Supercars Majlis, and Hirschi's stunt was part of that.

The supercar club was established in 2016. They hold events and drives for supercar owners, and this weekend that meant showing off Lamborghinis, Bugattis, McLarens and more in the Star Atrium of Dubai Mall.

Unfortunately, the exhibition is over. It was only a one-day event on Saturday, but follow Supercars Majlis on Instagram to keep up to date with where their next display will be.
