Yas Marina Circuit was taken over by muscle cars this weekend for the Mustang Drag Race 2018, which saw 17 cars face off against each other at the Abu Dhabi track's drag strip.
The tyre-shredding event, which was organised by Emirates Mustang Club and sponsored by Abu Dhabi's official Ford dealer Premier Motors, saw 15 cars go head to head during an afternoon of heats.
The overall winner was Omani driver Naif Al Kalbani in his 2013 Shelby, followed by Abu Dhabi drivers Obaid Al Marzoai in a 2013 Roush in second and Mohammed Al Muhairi in his 2015 Mustang GT in third. All three are members of Emirates Mustang Club.
The event also featured a static display of 'Stangs, including a 750hp Shelby Super Snake.
The 2018 Mustang was previously unveiled in Dubai late last year. The latest model year range comes replete with a special Bullitt edition, conceived to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the movie that helped make the car so iconic.
