Chinese man can't afford his own Lamborghini, so he builds one

BINZHOU // A Lorry driver in rural China always dreamt of owning his own Lamborghini, but with the prospect of affording his own looking unlikely he decided to take matters into his own hands. After downloading the plans off the internet, 25-year-old Chen Jinmiao spent a year and the equivalent of Dh10,700 on the project. Chen is delighted with his replica sports car - even if its 130kph top speed is some 240kph behind the real thing. The Daily Mail newspaper quotes Chen, of Binzhou in Hunan province, as saying: "I downloaded the drawings from the internet, then bought the materials from the market." Chen said his family and friends did not support his crazy act. "But they can't stop me, as I spent my own savings." Chen, who has no formal engineering training, is waiting to hear whether he will be allowed to drive his "baby Lambo" on public roads. If not, he intends to keep it as a collector's item.
