Emirates to send one-off A380 flight to Muscat
Service is to celebrate the 25 years the airline has been flying to Oman
Emirates is all geared up to send a one-off A380 flight to Muscat International Airport next month.
The special flight, on July 1, will be a nod to the airline’s 25th year of flying to the Omani capital and shows off the airport’s ability to handle the enormous A380 aircraft. The new passenger terminal at Muscat International Airport opened in March.
The one-off service will depart Dubai at 8.25am, arriving in Muscat at 9.25am, and will make its way back at 12.10pm, landing in Dubai at 1.10pm.
Khalid Bel Jaflah, Emirates' divisional vice president of commercial operations, UAE and Oman, said: “We are proud to fly the first scheduled A380 service to Muscat as Emirates marks a significant milestone of 25 years of service to the Sultanate of Oman.
"It is a very important destination for us in the region and we maintain our strong commitment to the country. We look forward to showcasing our innovative products and stylish amenities on board this iconic aircraft to our trade partners and travel industry stakeholders in Oman.”
Emirates began its service to Muscat in 1993 and has carried more than 4.3 million passengers to and from Oman since.
