Emirates delays world’s longest flight from Dubai to Panama
Emirates airline is deferring the start of its flights to Panama to March 31 as it awaits codeshare approvals, according to Bloomberg.
What would have been the world’s longest flight was previously expected to begin on February 1.
The route is set to take 17 hours and 35 minutes, eclipsing Qantas Airways’ Sydney to Dallas service using the Airbus A380, which takes 16 hours 55 minutes on the return trip.
The Dubai carrier announced the new route in August.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the chairman and chief executive of Emirates, said at the time: “Panama City will be our first destination gateway in Central America, providing a convenient option for our passengers travelling from or through our global hub in Dubai and onward to destinations throughout Central America, the Caribbean and the northern part of South America,”
