Vivienne Westwood urges Kate to buy less

Vivienne Westwood has urged Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, to stop buying so many outfits. The eccentric British designer spoke on Sunday to reporters before her show at London Fashion Week, where she handed out a "climate revolution charter" that calls on people to "buy less, choose well, make it last". Westwood was asked what advice she may have for Kate. "I don't have any advice for her, except I think it would be great if she wore the same clothes over and over again because that's good for the environment; it would send out a message," Westwood said. - AFP

Fergie and Duhamel expecting child

Fergie, the Black Eyed Peas singer, is pregnant with her first child. Her husband, the actor Josh Duhamel, tweeted about the news on Monday: "Fergie and Me and BABY makes three." He also posted photos of himself and his wife as toddlers. The 37-year-old Fergie and 40-year-old Duhamel married in 2009. - AP

Richard Briers dies at 79

The British actor Richard Briers, a comic presence on TV and movies for decades, died on Sunday in London at the age of 79. A former heavy smoker, he had suffered from emphysema. Briers starred in the 1970s sitcom The Good Life. Later, he became well known for Shakespearean roles, working with the director Kenneth Branagh. His last film credit was in last year's Cockneys vs Zombies. In 1989, Briers was named an Officer of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth for services to the arts. - AP

Les Intouchables wins Spanish film award

The French blockbuster Les Intouchables won the Best European Film prize at the prestigious Spanish film awards, the Goyas, on Sunday. Pablo Berger's Blancanieves took the top film award. Les Intouchables, directed by Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano, has become the biggest-selling French film overseas of all time. It chronicles the relationship between a quadriplegic millionaire and a poor caretaker. Blancanieves, which picked up 10 Goyas, is a retelling of the Snow White fairy tale. Juan Antonio Bayona won Best Director for The Impossible, which earned Naomi Watts a Best Actress nod at the Oscars. - AFP
