Lindsay Lohan is back in the headlines this summer, here's why

After going quiet at the beginning of the year, Lindsay Lohan has once again been popping up in our newsfeeds

After a self-imposed social media blackout in January, Lindsay Lohan is back to causing a stir online.

The star, who is Dubai based but has been in Mykonos a lot recently, has been busy of late: working with refugees in Turkey, creating a new make-up range, designing her own island on the Dubai World archipelago, starring in the UK comedy series Sicknote, working on a new Saudi based movie and reportedly shooting a reality TV series from her newly opened beach house concept in Mykonos.

Here's what she's been up to online...

This week: taking on Meryl?

The 32-year-old posted an Instagram photo on Tuesday that makes it appear as if she's poking fun at fellow actor Meryl Streep.

The post shows a picture of Disney's The Little Mermaid Ariel and Ursula, the sea-witch who entices Ariel to swap her voice for legs. The post says "My dream role with #MerylStreep". It's safe to say that no one would consider a comparison to Ursula as flattering. Below is a screen-grab of the post, which has since been removed.

Earlier this month: Misfiring on #MeToo

Lohan also had to recently apologise for comments she made about the #MeToo movement in a recent interview with The Times.

"If it happens at that moment, you discuss it at that moment," Lohan said to The Times. "You make it a real thing by making it a police report. I'm going to really hate myself for saying this, but I think by women speaking against all these things, it makes them look weak when they are very strong women. You have these girls who come out, who don't even know who they are, who do it for the attention. That is taking away from the fact that it happened."

In an apology statement to People, Lohan said "I feel very strongly about the #MeToo movement and have the utmost respect and admiration for the women brave enough to come forward and speak out about their experiences. Their testimony has served to protect those who can't speak, and give strength to those who have struggled to have their voices heard,"

June: 'Wear the same shoes'

Lohan also made the news in June for commenting on a picture on the Lohan Beach Rhodes account, her Mykonos business. “Wear the same shoes please,” the star commented on the photo of two staff members, “Or you’re fired.” Her comment has since been removed.
