Kate Winslet marries Rocknroll
Kate Winslet wed Ned Rocknroll in New York earlier this month. The private ceremony was attended by Winslet's two children as well as a few friends and family members, her representative revealed on Thursday. It is the third marriage for the 37-year-old actress, whose previous marriages were to the directors Jim Threapleton and Sam Mendes. The 34-year-old Rocknroll, who was born Abel Smith, is a nephew of Richard Branson. - AP
Nick Stahl arrested in Hollywood
Los Angeles police say Nick Stahl was arrested on Thursday in connection with an investigation of lewd conduct. The 33-year-old Terminator 3 star was booked on a misdemeanour count of lewd conduct and released from custody after he was arrested at an adult movie shop during an undercover police operation. In May, Stahl had been reported missing by his wife, but he later turned up. He starred in the HBO series Carnivale and 2010's Mirrors 2.- AP
Followill welcomes baby
The Kings of Leon family just got bigger. The band's drummer Nathan Followill and his wife, the singer Jessie Baylin, welcomed a baby girl on Wednesday. Followill's band mates, his brother Caleb and cousin Matthew also have children. The Nashville band have been working on new music for an album that is expected to be released next year. - AP
Musician Ray Collins dies
Ray Collins, who invited the guitarist Frank Zappa to join the band that eventually became The Mothers of Invention, died on Monday in California, five days after a heart attack. He was 75. Collins sang on three albums for the rock band, then left, saying their comedic approach to music didn't suit him. - AP
Brandy engaged to music exec
The R&B singer Brandy Norwood is engaged to the music executive Ryan Press. This will be the first marriage for the singer, who goes by the moniker Brandy. Press is an executive for Warner/Chappell Music. A date for the wedding has not been announced. Norwood, 33, has a 10-year-old daughter with her former boyfriend, the music producer Robert Smith. Harry Carey Jr dies at 91
Harry Carey Jr, a character actor who starred in such Westerns as 3 Godfathers and Wagon Master, has died at age 91. His daughter, Melinda Carey, said he died on Thursday surrounded by family in Santa Barbara, California. "He went out as gracefully as he came in," she said. Carey's career spanned more than 50 years and included such John Ford classics as She Wore a Yellow Ribbon. Later in life, he appeared in Gremlins and Back to the Future Part III. - AP
