Disney has revealed the very first teaser trailer for Frozen 2, the sequel to the 2013 animated musical adventure that captured the imaginations of children and families everywhere, and it looks pretty serious.

Throughout the wordless teaser, Queen Elsa (voiced by Idina Menzel) appears, running across an angry ocean as she paves her own path with ice. Meanwhile, her sister Anna (Kristen Bell) and their friend Kristoff (Jonathan Groff) are embroiled in their own crises. The reappearance of Olaf (Josh Gad), the friendly snowman, provides a little light relief in seemingly dire circumstances.

The original hit film was loosely based on Hans Christian Andersen's The Snow Queen. For Frozen 2, Disney hasn't given much away in terms of the plot. The trailer, which just a little less than two minutes long, leaves us with more questions than answers.

We're not the only ones, it appears. Twitter user ZainR had all sorts of queries, too:

It certainly got people speculating. Many thought Elsa's run through a freezing ocean might be a comment on climate change:

Despite any puzzles we might still need to solve, actress Melissa Fumero, for one, was seriously impressed with Disney's offering, stating on Twitter that it's "one of the most beautiful trailers I've ever seen".

Others were also won over by it.
