Ahlan Art, a London-based gallery is presenting an exhibition of 35 paintings by artists from across the Middle East, Asia, Africa and the UK. The works, in the show titled The Spirit of Islam is an attempt to embody Islamic culture and the artwork includes pieces that incorporate verses from the Holy Quran and abstract works showcasing the essence of the Hajj.

“We are about giving a voice to emerging artists, and creating opportunities to highlight the intricate nature of Islamic Art,” says Hassan Mawji, the co-founder of Ahlan Art and the charity Mount Elimu. “Even a lot of non-Muslims will find a relationship with Islamic art. Many feel at peace when observing Islamic art, regardless of their faith.”
