Cinema Akil, The Third Line and Alserkal Avenue present an outdoor screening at The Yard of Bahman Kiarostami's documentary film Monir, which looks at the life and work of the 91-year-old Iranian artist Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian, whose exhibition Infinite Geometry, is currently running at The Third Line.
Her works are an artistic language that she created, influenced by both ancient Iranian crafts and modern American artists. The film explores the facets that led Farmanfarmaian to become one of the Middle East’s most influential artists – from her upbringing and the political climate in her native country that led to her move to New York, and now her return to Tehran after 30 years – putting her at the peak of her career at age 91.
