A new campaign is inviting all residents of the UAE to capture images of their favourite places around their cities for National Day on December 2.
The #Webuiltthiscity campaign is a collaborative effort between the award-winning Dubai-based S*uce boutique and the production company Capital D Studio - and nothing is off limits.
Zayan Ghandour, the creative director and co-founder of S*uce, says the campaign is perfect for National Day as it helps build the community.
The campaign is open to Instagram and other smartphone and camera users, both amateur and professional.
"Everyone experiences a connection with the city in which they live, with people they meet, places they visit. So we're urging people to take snapshots of their favourite spots, because what's interesting is they mean different things to different people," says Ghandour. "When you are passionate about a place, you contribute because you want to positively add to it and people want to be part of a community, witnessing its growth, narratives and memories."
To be part of the campaign, you can take pictures of anything - from the grocery store or a favourite place to get morning coffee to people you meet and locations that inspire you. Upload your photos to Twitter using the hashtag #webuiltthiscity, mentioning @sauceloves and @capitalDstudio. All shots will be shared at www.shopatsauce.com/webuiltthiscity and the 41 images receiving the most likes will be exhibited at Captial D Studio from November 28 until December 3, with an option to sell the photograph.
"Take as many pictures as possible of what inspires you. You are part of your city and by celebrating it, you are taking pride in it and contributing to its ongoing growth," says Ghandour. "It's about bringing the community together. We'll be streaming all images at www.shopatsauce.com/webuiltthiscity so you'll be able to scroll through and see a collection of images of all the cities in the UAE. Make sure you tag your city as well."
