The tech expert Randi Zuckerberg shares her views on how to successfully navigate the complexities of online life in Dot Complicated.
Zuckerberg, who is the sister of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and was one of the social networking site’s early employees, provides some interesting insights into the growing importance of the internet in both our personal and work lives.
But some of her advice will seem rather obvious to anyone who possesses a modicum of common sense.
For example: “Your body is your business only. Think before you post revealing pictures”; “Be careful with personal information about yourself and your family”; “Always treat others with respect, the way you would want to be treated”; and “Don’t bully or go along with people who are bullying.”
That said, the book is redeemed by her up close and personal observations on the frenetic early days of Facebook. “I realised that I was literally watching the American Dream play out in front of me, one Red Bull at a time,” she writes.
