A fire on a dhow boat sent smoke billowing across Dubai Creek on Friday evening.
The blaze on the vessel was accelerated by vehicle tyres that sent black smoke tunnelling into the sky.
A Dubai Civil Defence official said the blaze began at 5.30pm on Friday.
Crews from four stations rushed to the scene at the Deira port. It was brought under control by about 6.40pm, an official told The National.
The incident happened in the Gold Souq district, eyewitnesses said.

He said there were no injuries but that tyres on the vessel hampered efforts to tackle the blaze.
The fire official described the boat as a transport vessel carrying a range of goods. One Twitter user said she heard explosions on the vessel, possibly due to fuel canisters, though that was not confirmed by the fire service.
