DUBAI // Residents were delighted to experience some rain on Tuesday afternoon.

In a country that receives less than 15 centimetres of rain a year, people took to Twitter to celebrate the much-welcomed seasonal drizzle.

“Oh how I love winters in Dubai, I could use some soup right now,” said Kevin Sebastian, co-founder of The Hunger Reels.

Others expressed concern at the impact the weather would have on transport.

“It’s great how everyone is enjoying the rain in #mydubai,” said Girish Mahtani. “Remember after rain comes traffic.”

Forecasters also reported light rain in Sharjah, Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah and warned of thunderclouds forming with the possibility of stronger rains and dust storms later in the day.
