The Rulers have hailed the nation’s achievements and paid tribute to the late founding father, Sheikh Zayed, on the eve of the UAE’s 43rd National Day.

Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, praised youth for enrolling in National Service to safeguard the country’s security, stability and interests.

“Today, the National Service Law presents a new fruit of the Union to Emirati youth who enrol in national service to serve their country in honour as strong countries do,” Dr Sheikh Sultan said.

“As long as we build our future and dreams on Emirati youth, we harness all our capabilities and potential to develop and provide decent living conditions for them. They reflect the prestigious image of the country in terms of education, hard work and responsibilities that the leadership puts on them.”

The UAE's achievements over the past four decades made every citizen proud to be a part of this homeland and honoured by its leadership, said Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, in a statement published by Dira'a Al Watan (Shield of the Nation) magazine.

“We are happy that National Day is being celebrated at a time when the UAE is enjoying a strong and healthy economy,” he said.

“The UAE has stood out through a number of economic projects which led the country to significant economic growth over the years. Dubai’s economic growth has been further boosted after it won the bid to host Expo 2020.”

Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, said the occasion was an opportune time to renew their loyalty to the President, Sheikh Khalifa.

“The empowerment policy that has been adopted by the leadership, aimed at involving UAE citizens in the cultural renaissance, represents the reality and is based on the idea that says that building the nation is in the hands of the UAE citizens,” he said.

National Day is an occasion to reflect on the efforts of the founding fathers and to work to enhance the concept of the Spirit of the Union, said Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah.

"The great achievements accomplished by the UAE encourage us all to work harder, to preserve the gains and to entrench the Spirit of the Union, giving us confidence that we are on the path of leadership with a confident and clear vision," he said in comments published by Dira'a Al Watan.

Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, said: “On the 2nd of December, we remember those who laid the foundations of cohesion and cooperation and who worked hard, with dedication, to build the union as a solid base on which we can now stand.”

Sheikh Saud also praised the UAE’s leadership to empower Emirati women, saying: “Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Mother of the UAE, reinforced women’s roles through her support for all initiatives that promote women’s status and confirm the leadership’s keenness that the women assume leading positions and contribute towards building a modern state.”
