Welcome to The National's weekly news round up with journalist and broadcaster Tim Marshall.

This week, Tim examines the impact of category 5 storm Hurricane Irma, which left parts of the Caribbean devastated and thousands of people without homes.

Elsewhere, Myanmar's de facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi faced international condemnation for her silence on the Rohingya crisis, ISIL lost ground to Syrian government forces in Deir Ezzor and relations between Ankara and Berlin became even more strained as German Chancellor Angela Merkel pledged to end Turkey's EU accession talks.
