Trump expected to meet Jordan and Qatar leaders in New York
As he heads to New York next week for the 72nd United Nations General Assembly meeting, US President Donald Trump is expected to meet with King Abdullah of Jordan, Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas and Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad.
The National has learned that Mr Trump will hold the bilateral meetings with his Middle Eastern counterparts early next week.
Mr Trump's meeting with King of Jordan will be their fourth meeting since the US President took office, the third with Mr Abbas, and the second with the Emir of Qatar.
While the Peace Process will top the agenda with both King Abdullah and Mr Abbas, the Qatar dispute will headline the meeting with its Emir.
The US has recently intensified its efforts at bringing Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt and Bahrain to the table to broker a solution. Mr Trump has waded directly into the negotiations in multiple phone calls to the Saudi and Emirati leadership in the last two weeks.
