ABU DHABI // Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas is in good health, his office said in a statement on Saturday, following rumours he had suffered a stroke and was in Jordan for medical treatment.

Spokesman Abu Rudeineh described the social media reports about Mr Abbas’ health as distorted and false, according to the Maan News Agency.

Mr Abbas, 80, has been the Palestinian president since 2005.
