Yemen's Hadi appoints new minister of foreign affairs
Khaled Al Yamani will replace Abdel Malek Al Mekhlafi, state news agency said
Khaled Al Yamani was appointed by Yemeni President Abdrabu Mansur Hadi as foreign minister, replacing Abdel Malek Al Mekhlafi, according to statement carried by the state news agency, Saba.
The report on Thursday said that Mr Mekhlafi will become an advisor to the president.
Yemeni Ambassador to the US Ahmed Awadh bin Mubarak will take up Mr Yamani’s position as the country’s representative to the UN while also remaining in his current role.
Mr Hadi's internationally-recognised government, supported by an Arab coalition, has been battling Iran-backed Houthi rebels across much of the country since 2014.
The administration is currently based in the southern port city of Aden after the Houthis overran the capital, Sanaa.
