Syria crisis dominates Feltman talks in Lebanon

Jeffrey Feltman, the Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, is in Beirut on a two-day visit.

BEIRUT // The Syria crisis dominated talks yesterday between Lebanese officials and a US delegation led by Washington's top Middle East diplomat.

Jeffrey Feltman, the Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, arrived in Beirut late yesterday on a two-day visit. Today, the delegation toured the northern Lebanon-Syria border and met with Syrian refugees.

US Senator Joseph Lieberman, who ended his visit to Lebanon today, met with senior Lebanese officials during his visit, with talks focusing on issues including the situation in Syria, according to a statement by the US Embassy in Beirut.

Meanwhile, Iran's first vice-president, Mohammad Reza Rahimi, also arrived in Lebanon, meeting with Prime Minister Najib Mikati.
