A rocket attack has been reported on Camp Taji, north of Baghdad, the Iraqi military said on Tuesday.

The military didn't specify how many rockets hit the US military base.

Police and medical sources told AFP two Iraqi personnel members were wounded in the attack.

Sky News reported that a 'missile' landed near the camp's gates on Tuesday evening, wounding a member of the security forces.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

On Sunday, four people were wounded after eight Katyusha rockets were fired at Balad air base, which houses US personnel, located about 80 kilometres north of Baghdad, the Iraqi military said in a statement. Military sources identified the wounded as Iraqi soldiers.

Tensions have been high in the Middle East after the US killed top Iranian general Qassem Suleimani in a drone strike.

Iran has vowed to avenge his killing and responded by firing missiles at two US bases in Iraq a week later. There were no casualties in those attacks.

Last week, a Ukrainian International Airlines crashed, killing all 176 people on board. The Iranian military admitted over the weekend that they shot it down by mistake.
