The UAE confirmed its ongoing support to Baghdad’s central government in combating terrorism and extremism.
During a meeting with Iraqi prime minister Haider Al Abadi on Thursday, UAE Ambassador to Iraq Hassan Ahmed Al Shahi affirmed his country’s position in supporting Iraq in its war against ISIL and congratulated him on his victory over the terror group in Mosul.

Mr Al Shahi discussed with Mr Al Abadi ways to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries, particularly in the economic and investment fields.
He also delivered a handwritten letter from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to Mr Al Abadi.
In his letter, Sheikh Mohammed praised the efforts and sacrifices made by Iraqis and their armed forces, while also stressing that the UAE looks forward to boosting ties with Iraq and to continue its cooperation on regional and international issues.
